Freelance writer and editor
May 2006 – present
I write for a range of titles, meeting daily, weekly and monthly deadlines. My technology and gadget features have been published in the Guardian, Maxim and at Techradar.com, while travel articles have appeared in Golf Monthly.
I also regularly contribute film reviews and interviews to Screenjabber.com.
My freelance editing skills have been employed in print and online platforms at Future Publishing, and for corporate clients including Tommy Hilfiger, Canon Europe and PC World. I understand the collaborative nature of freelance work and have a flexible and intuitive approach to each role.
Editor, Digital Video magazine
Future Publishing
January 2005 – May 2006
My chief achievements were in creating a clear editorial and brand strategy and successfully relaunching the title. Key responsibilities included the
commissioning of content and budgeting for magazine and online platforms.
Editor, Camcorder User magazine
Highbury House
July 1999 – January 2005
I was responsible for defining the editorial direction of the title and introduced new features and review sections to achieve this. I developed market-relevant content for a cover-mounted DVD and oversaw all flatplanning and budgeting.
Deputy Editor, Camcorder User magazine
Highbury House
June 1998 – July 1999
The magazine produced quarterly filmmaking supplements, which I was given responsibility for commissioning and editing. Writing lead features and reviews and organising product photography were also major aspects of this role.
Staff Writer, Video Camera magazine
WV Publications
May 1997 – June 1998
My main task was in sourcing and writing news pages, while I also generated feature ideas, attended press conferences and arranged photo shoots.
